The design is great - simply bolt on using the bolts/nuts that are a part of the front and rear body mounts. The hardware is solid and looks great. (I've yet to balance my rig on a rock so I've yet to see how the armor holds up.) Based on reviews here and elsewhere I bought these knowing that I'd have to make some of my own mods, but you still can't beat the price and free shipping. I ended up needing to enlarge the front most holes on both driver and passenger side. Also had to open up the cut out for the front body mount isolator a bit on the passenger side. You definitely want to have a drill and a metal cutting/grinding rotary tool handy when you go to install these. Also lots of patience because you'll need to put them on, take them off, put them on, take them off as you work out where you need to enlarge the holes and by how much. This was no easy task but wasn't too difficult either. I used a Step Drill Bit to do this. It took about an hour and a half to finally get it to the point where I could get the bolt through the hole. I did also have to take a hammer and crow bar to bend the bolt in a little bit (so as not to have to drill as much) but I didn't move it too much, but sill enough to make a significant difference. Lastly, it was a snug fit to get that one hole one and ended up having to hammer it the rest of the way. Other than that, the other three holes on the step, and all four holes on the passenger side step fit just perfectly and required no drilling. One they were in place, simple as pie to screw in. Looks great and supports my weight just fine. Hope the photos I post and what I wrote are helpful. |
